GAP Audits

What Are GAP Audits?

A GAP audit, also known as a gap analysis or compliance audit, is a process that involves comparing an organization’s current practices and processes to the requirements of a specific standard or regulation. The objective of the GAP audit is to identify any gaps or non-compliance areas between the current system and the desired standard, and to provide recommendations for improvements that will help the organization meet the standard’s requirements. GAP audits are typically conducted by independent auditors and can be used to prepare for external audits or certification audits.

Streamlining The Certification Process.

During a GAP audit, an independent auditor conducts a comprehensive review of an organization’s practices to identify any areas of non-compliance or potential risks. The auditor evaluates the organization’s policies, procedures, documentation, and records to ensure that they meet the relevant standards.

Other Reasons For GAP Audits

  • Determine the gaps in your current Management System against the required ISO standard.
  • They are conducted when companies wish to progress from one certification standard to another – (ISO 22000 to FSSC 22000).
  • Often conducted before implementation to determine the amount of work involved, do budget preparations and plan the implementation process.
  • Many businesses perform a gap analysis in the early phases of their ISO standard development. This is to get an idea of what to expect from the process when fully functioning.
